The Dogs.com.au Website Revamp Project

Website design and development


After providing support and performing all maintenance on The Dogs website for Greyhound Racing NSW since the site's launch in 2008, GRNSW provided us with the exclusive opportunity to perform the redesign and revamp of the site in the first quarter of 2011.

The site had been running successfully since it's 2008 launch and increasing in site visitors since then, and a survey was run in late 2010 to determine areas of improvement and vistors' wishes for the site.

A completely new design was created, for this we contracted agency Digital Hive, to ensure that "fresh eyes" were involved, and we provided extensive input into the process and managed the project and relationship between the client and agency.

Following the design phase, Angel Web Designs went to work on developing the new site, building on the existing framework, and writing all the code for the new design, which incorporated HTML/CSS and Javascript (jQuery) for some interactive elements. The entire site is written on the Microsoft ASP.NET Framework.

Further improvements and enhancements were developed (including performance tuning and new functionality in racing forms and throughout the site). The project also included a complete review and redesign of the site's Information Architecture, and a new "super menu" was build to allow easy and clear access to the large amount of information made available through the site.

The end result was delivered on time and within budget, was very well received by the client and particularly by visitors, and the launch was followed up with further performance tuning during the weeks after the launch. Angel Web Designs now continues to provide support and maintenance to GRNSW for The Dogs website.
